Mainstage - dLocal - Building Across Asia: What Actually Works in Payments
Session Description
Asia is often described as a high-growth region. That’s true. But what really makes it different is how payments evolved. In many Asian markets, cards were never the foundation. eWallets scaled faster. Governments stepped in with interoperable QR systems. Local payment rails reshaped how money moves, online and offline.
The result is a region where eWallets dominate checkouts, national QR standards connect fragmented ecosystems, and SuperApps sit at the center of commerce and finance. But there isn’t one Asian model. Banking penetration, regulation, FX controls, and consumer behavior vary widely across countries. What works in India doesn’t automatically translate to Indonesia. What works in the Philippines won’t apply in Pakistan.
This session examines how these models have developed over the past decade, where the region stands today, and what global businesses need to consider when building across markets operating on fundamentally different payment logic.
Asia isn’t one story. It’s multiple operating system
