Merchants should be aware of the Costco credit card transitioning from American Express to Citi. Citi has begun issuing new Costco Visa cards, which will be enabled for use starting June 20th. Effective on this date the Costco AMEX card will no longer work at Costco or other merchants.
DRF PaymentsEd card-on-file merchants should be aware of this change and note that this transition will not be included in Visa Account Updater files. You will not receive updates for cards you currently have on file for the Costco card base and will likely see an impact in your authorization rates.
Some estimates have 10% of all Amex cards as being co-branded with Costco, although the ratio of Costco Amex cards-on-file will likely vary by merchant.
