We have recently been made aware of an issue within the Account Updater network.

This issue is specific to one issuer and to only a subset of the cards issued by this issuer.  Between the end of September and middle of November there were some incorrect updates being returned to merchants. For example: when a request was made for an account update to “Customer A’s” credit card, you may have been incorrectly provided “Customer B’s” card number.  This means the wrong person may have been incorrectly charged for your goods or services.

While the issue is alarming, so far, through discussion with many merchants and acquirers the impact to customers has been minimal.  We understand that parties involved are working diligently to resolve the issue and reduce customer impact. We recommend all merchants who use Account Updater investigate the potential impact to their customers by contacting your payment processor/acquirer with any additional questions or concerns.
